Design and characterisation of calcium carbonate microspheres for anticancer drug delivery

Abstract The development of delivery systems providing prolonged release antitumor drugs represents one the challenges in designing and optimization novel tools for cancer therapy. employment spherical inorganic microparticles, particular, calcium carbonate vaterite microspheres, as microcarriers appears promising because their porous, matrix structure, biocompatibility, biodegradability. Here, we summarize results approaches to synthesis microspheres with narrowed size distribution microencapsulation low-molecular-weight anticancer drugs, such doxorubicin hydrochloride into obtained microspheres. Supplementing reaction mixture a thickener defines fabrication homogeneous microparticles shape an average 2 3 μm. Synthesised ensure at physiological pH values can be used system structural component theranostic platform tumour treatment diagnosis.
